Course Highlights:
CLASS 3 - 3-WEEK COURSE
Construction Trucks, Dump Trucks & Cement Trucks
When working in this type of industry you can expect long days, but great hourly wages that often include time and half or double time pay for all overtime hours. This industry is a great example of “the harder you work, the more money you make”. You can expect to be home every day after your shift, or if you are working on a construction site out of town, your employer will cover the costs of out-of-town accommodations. If you are really serious about getting into the construction industry and want to make the most money, you should consider getting an AZ license (AZ licensed drivers can also drive DZ class trucks) and even some training on Heavy Machinery.
Course Highlights:
CLASS 3 - 3-DAY COURSE
Firetrucks, Garbage Trucks and Snow Plows
This career path will require more specialized training from your employer. However even with the specialized training you will also need a class 3 license to apply for these lucrative careers.

Learn how to drive a truck (Class 1, 3, AZ, DZ) before getting behind the wheel. The old way to teach someone how to drive would be to let the truck student loose on the road and hope for the best. A rookie pilot learning to fly a plane would never learn this way. Most quality truck driving schools in North America now use simulators to supplement shifting and backing training (these are the two most difficult skills to master) for their Class 1, 3, AZ, DZ students. Truck driver training school courses are of a set duration. This means you spend your truck training hours on certain exercises. If you didn’t learn in the allotted time you will either fail or get stuck paying for more training time just to learn the bare minimum for your Class 1, 3, AZ or DZ. Use of our simulator gives you the time you need to learn and master the skills you need for the career in as a truck driver that you deserve.
Learning to shift a truck (Class 1, 3, AZ, DZ) with a non-synchronized manual transmission is a skill that takes time and patience. This is not like shifting a car with a standard transmission. The first thing you have to learn at a truck driver training school is how to shift gears. You can’t learn anything else until the basics of shifting is learned. Like anything else, once you know how, shifting is easy and fun. When you fail to master the art of shifting you will be stuck with an “automatic” restriction on your Class AZ/ Class 1 license. This means you will only be licensed to drive a truck with an automatic transmission which makes up about half of the trucks on the road today.
By using the simulator, students learn how to shift at their own pace before they even get behind the wheel of the actual truck (Class 1, 3, AZ, DZ). You can use your driving time to work on much more advanced skills. Practice makes perfect and that’s why our truck driving school students are the best of the best.
Without a simulator the only way to learn how to back up a tractor trailer at a truck driver training school is by trial and error. Modern simulator truck training allows you to learn all the concepts of backing while practicing in a real simulated environment. It allows for a self paced, stress and pressure free way to learn the concepts of backing a tractor trailer (Class 1, AZ). You can replay maneuvers and watch what you’ve done from different vantage points, you can learn from your own mistakes by yourself without an audience. Once you start your “hands on” truck driver training you will already know how to back up a tractor trailer allowing you the opportunity to put what you learned on the simulator to work in real life.
This is how you master the Art of Backing!

Driving a truck with a manual transmission is easy once you know how. The trick is to be taught and to have the opportunity to learn.
Driving a truck with a manual transmission is easy once you know how. It may be tempting to take the easy way and opt for training on an automatic transmission, but you owe it to yourself to learn, and posses an unrestricted license. Not knowing how to drive a standard truck and how to drive it well, will greatly limit your employment opportunities.
Sure, there are some jobs out there that use automatic trucks – but with a restricted license, those are the jobs you are limited to. We train thousands of individuals each and every year on standard transmissions. We have never failed to teach someone how to drive a standard truck confidently. We have been doing it for years and have many professional tools (such as simulators) to help along the way! Just because you don’t know how to shift now, doesn’t mean you can’t learn.
You might be surprised at how quickly you start to become comfortable shifting a truck, and after just a few short weeks you will be shifting like a pro! We are so confident in our ability to teach anyone to shift a truck that we will back you up with a road test guarantee.
Our courses are designed to meet the demands of the trucking industry and learning styles of our students. Although we provide students all the tools and resources to master shifting, we also appreciate that everyone learns differently. Everyone has different goals and reasons for wanting an AZ license, which is why we also provide training and road tests on automatic trucks. Whether you want a full AZ license or an automatic restricted license, we can accommodate.
Transport Training Centres of Canada will provide you with the very best training so you can arrive prepared.
